The Patterson Advantage™
The foundation of our business philosophy is based on one overarching principle: our clients and growth of their assets come first. We put this principle into action by avoiding conflicts of interest that are common to the asset management business. We avoid dealer-favoritism when executing trades by maintaining our independence from all broker-dealers. We avoid competition with client accounts by not trading for proprietary accounts, by not managing accounts with performance-based fees, and by not cross-trading between client accounts; and, we avoid dependence upon “safe harbors” by not having any soft-dollar arrangements. Our strictly defined enterprise distinguishes this firm from many other investment advisers.
Patterson Capital offers several high-quality strategies and works with clients in the development of investment guidelines and custom benchmarks for unique investment goals. Our firm provides dedicated services to a wide range of clientele including:
- Corporate Pension and Taft-Hartley Plans
- Healthcare and Insurance Companies
- Public Plans/Funds (Experience with LAIG)
At Patterson Capital we believe in an active, methodical and well-practiced approach to portfolio management. This management style has been designed to control portfolio risk, preserve capital in down markets, and provide our clients with the necessary income and liquidity they require. Our portfolio holdings are very transparent, well diversified, and composed primarily of securities that qualify for benchmark inclusion. In an era of decreased liquidity, this approach elevates both the liquidity and pricing transparency in our portfolios.
The investment decision-making process at Patterson Capital is very disciplined, straightforward and centralized. The primary function of our portfolio managers is to make all strategic investment decisions regarding portfolio structure (duration, sector exposure, quality, buy/sell decisions, etc.). Rather than economic forecasting, this process relies upon analysis of market trends in areas such as interest rates, sector spreads, or credit quality.
